How have you been feeling the last few months?
I will start with how I feel. Lately, its been a bit much for me. Its tough to see all of these videos of black men and women being mishandled. Its tough to not feel good enough for the world today even though we have come so far as a race.
I haven’t slept good for months. I haven’t felt like myself for months. I know this blog is not based on my thoughts about myself or how Im feeling about the black race being mishandled.
I have a few ways of coping that may help you.
MEDITATION
Meditation is necessary. Meditation reduces stress. It is also said to improve sleep and control anxiety. We can all use some mediation in our life. I believe we all do things differently. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Do it your way and go forward through the day with a grateful heart.
DO SOMETHING FUN
Do you remember the fun stuff you used to do before the pandemic? Do you remember what brought you joy? The things that made your heart smile and you feel like you were sixteen again? If possible, go back to that. But do it SAFELY.
My friends used to have sleepovers. We used to enjoy outings together at least once a month. We have gotten away from that with the pandemic. I miss crying laughing at silly remarks. I miss dressing up and getting cute, putting heels on, wearing my favorite lipstick.
Two weeks ago, one of my friends asked if I would be interested in stepping out for a sec. Before I could even think about it or check my schedule, I said YES! It feel so good to be able to hang out and be around people again. We went to a rooftop bar and I felt like I was on top of the world.
I encourage you to do whatever you fun is! Take a ride into the biggest city closest to you, go visit that friend in the neighboring state, FaceTime your aunt that has been on your mind, DO IT! Whatever you decide to do, do it safely and happily!
Be Well.
